About the event
Salena Godden is an award-winning author, poet and broadcaster of Jamaican-mixed heritage. Her debut novel Mrs Death Misses Death won the Indie Book Award for Fiction and the People's Book Prizee. Godden has been shortlisted for the 4thWrite short story prize and the Ted Hughes Prize. She was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2022.
Ruth Ivo has worked at various times as a showgirl, scarer of children on a Blackpool ghost, area organiser at the likes of Glastonbury Festival, and was the director of an X-rated variety show at 'The Club'. Tired now, she has turned to a career in literature. She is based in South London.
Both writers have published searing and powerful memoirs in the last year, speaking to relisiance, power and vulnerability. In an exclusive conversation, with the chance to hear their work spoken, don't miss out on an incandescent evening celebrating two incredible women and artists.
